ICCM: Inner City Christian Ministries is an organization providing a place of refuge, fellowship and healing to people in need in the inner city. www.iccmonline.com Bridge Builders: Bridge Builders for Kids is a Christian organization that serves children of prisoners. The vision and mission of Bridge Builders for Kids is to break the cycle of incarceration by connecting children of prisoners and their families to a faith-based network that will inspire them to live up to their God-given potential as members of society. This is done in three different ways: 1. Mentoring – Children are matched with Christian mentors who spend a couple hours a week with them working toward specific goals of their choice and doing service projects together. 2. Camp – Each child in the mentoring program has an opportunity to attend Coyote Ridge Christian Ranch, a camp of Bridge Builders for Kids located in Lake City, MN. Programming at the camp is geared specifically to the issues and needs of children of prisoners. Connecting additional resources – While Bridge Builders for Kids focuses specifically on the children of prisoners, we partner with organizations such as The Salvation Army, Prison Fellowship Ministries and Parenting With Purpose, who focus on the needs of both the child’s caregiver and incarcerated parent. Parenting With Purpose: Parenting With Purpose (PWP) is a non-profit ministry which focuses on building strong families who have been affected by incarceration of a loved one. Since 1995, Parenting With Purpose has been serving families in the Twin Cities metro area of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Parenting With Purpose’s mission is to instill hope, vision and purpose in the lives of incarcerated parents and their children in need of healing and restoration. PWP is committed to serve as a positive influence in the lives of children affected by a parent’s incarceration, as well as offering the support and training necessary for incarcerated parents to restore their family relationships. PWP is uniquely positioned to serve the entire family affected by parental incarceration. Through our Biblically based parenting classes in the prisons and our mentoring program for children of incarcerated parents, more than 2000 parents, 100 children and over 30 caregivers have been shown the love God and given a second chance to find a vision for their lives. We partner with Churches, Prison Fellowship, Bridge Builders for Kids and other community organizations to meet the needs of our families and children. We encourage you to check out theseorganizations for more information and the opportunity to participatein financial and other support. |
